 Past Perfect Tense

 
দুটি অতীত ঘটনার মধ্যে যেটি আগে ঘটেছে তাকে বোঝাতে Past Perfect Tense হয়।  
মনে রাখতে হবেঃ Past Perfect শুধু তখনই ব্যবহার করা হয় যখন দুটি অতীত ঘটনার মধ্যে সময়গত পার্থক্য বোঝাতে হয়। যদি একটি মাত্র অতীত ঘটনা থাকে, তবে Simple Past ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

  
Formula (গঠন): Subject + had + past participle verb(V3) + Object.
 
যে সব ক্ষেত্রে Past Perfect Tense-এর ব্যবহার করা হয়:
1. দুটি অতীত ঘটনার মধ্যে যেটি আগে ঘটেছে তাকে বোঝাতে Past Perfect Tense-এর ব্যবহার হয়: 
   উদাহরণ:   আমি স্টেশনে পৌঁছানোর আগে ট্রেনটি ছেড়ে গিয়েছিল।  
      -  The train had left the station before I arrived.  
2. অতীতের কোনো কাজ শেষ হওয়ার পর অন্য কাজ ঘটেছে বোঝাতে Past Perfect Tense-এর ব্যবহার হয়:  
   উদাহরণ:  সে খাবার শেষ করার পর আমি এসেছিলাম।  
       - I came after she had finished eating.  
3. অনুভূতি বা আবেগ প্রকাশ করতে Past Perfect Tense-এর ব্যবহার
হয় (যেমন: আশা, প্রত্যাশা, ভয় ইত্যাদি):  
   উদাহরণ: আমি ভেবেছিলাম সে হয়তো চলে গিয়েছে। - I thought she had left.    

 

Translation (অনুবাদ):
1. আমি ঘুম থেকে ওঠার আগে সে ঘর পরিষ্কার করে ফেলেছিল। - He had cleaned the room before I woke up.
2. আমরা সিনেমা হলে পৌঁছানোর পরে ছবিটি শুরু হয়ে গিয়েছিল। - The movie had started after we reached the cinema hall.
3. যখন আমি বাড়ি ফিরলাম, মা রান্না শেষ করেছিলেন। - When I returned home, Mom had finished cooking.
4. সে চলে যাওয়ার আগে আমি তাকে ফোন করেছিলাম। - I had called him before he left.
5. আমরা স্টেশনে পৌঁছানোর সাথে সাথে ট্রেনটি চলে গিয়েছিল। - No sooner had we reached the station than the train had left.
6. আমি দোকানে যাওয়ার আগে সে সব কিনে ফেলেছিল। - He had bought everything before I went to the shop.
7. যখন আমরা পার্টিতে পৌঁছালাম, তারা খাওয়া শেষ করেছিল। - When we arrived at the party, they had finished eating.
8. আমি চিঠিটি লেখার পরে সে এসে পড়েছিল।  
   He had arrived after I had written the letter.
9. সে খেলা শুরু করার আগে আমি মাঠে পৌঁছে গিয়েছিলাম। - I had reached the field before he started the game.
10. আমরা বাড়ি ফেরার সাথে সাথে বৃষ্টি শুরু হয়ে গিয়েছিল। - No sooner had we returned home than the rain had started.
11. আমি জেগে ওঠার আগে সূর্য উঠে গিয়েছিল। - The sun had risen before I woke up.
12. যখন আমি স্কুলে পৌঁছালাম, ক্লাস শুরু হয়ে গিয়েছিল। - When I reached school, the class had already started.
13. সে চলে যাওয়ার আগে আমি তাকে উপহার দিয়েছিলাম। - I had given him a gift before he left.
14. আমরা বাজারে যাওয়ার পরে দোকানগুলো বন্ধ হয়ে গিয়েছিল। - The shops had closed after we went to the market.
15. আমি বইটি পড়া শেষ করেছিলাম যখন সে এল। - I had finished reading the book when he came.
16. আমি দরজা খোলার আগে সে কড়া নাড়ছিল। - He had knocked on the door before I opened it.
17. আমরা খেলা দেখতে যাওয়ার সাথে সাথে ম্যাচটি শেষ হয়ে গিয়েছিল। - No sooner had we gone to watch the game than the match had ended.
18. আমি ঘরে ঢোকার আগে সে জানালা বন্ধ করে ফেলেছিল। - He had closed the window before I entered the room.
19. যখন আমি দোকানে গেলাম, তারা সব বিক্রি করে ফেলেছিল। - When I went to the shop, they had sold everything.
20. আমি চিঠি পাঠানোর পরে সে উত্তর দিয়েছিল। - He had replied after I had sent the letter.
21. আমরা সিনেমা দেখতে যাওয়ার আগে টিকিট কেটে ফেলেছিলাম। - We had bought the tickets before going to watch the movie.
22. সে আমার সাথে দেখা করার আগে সব প্রস্তুতি নিয়েছিল। - He had made all preparations before meeting me.
23. আমি কাজ শেষ করার সাথে সাথে বস এসে পড়েছিলেন। - No sooner had I finished the work than the boss had arrived.
24. যখন আমি স্টেশনে পৌঁছালাম, বাসটি চলে গিয়েছিল। - When I reached the station, the bus had left.
25. আমি তাকে ফোন করার আগে সে ঘুমিয়ে পড়েছিল। - He had fallen asleep before I called him.
26. আমরা পার্কে যাওয়ার পরে বৃষ্টি থেমে গিয়েছিল। - The rain had stopped after we went to the park.
27. আমি দোকানে যাওয়ার আগে সে সব কিনে ফেলেছিল। - He had bought everything before I went to the shop.
28. যখন আমি বাড়ি ফিরলাম, তারা খাবার পরিবেশন করে ফেলেছিল। - When I returned home, they had served the food.
29. আমি চিঠিটি পড়ার পরে সে এসেছিল। - He had come after I had read the letter.
30. সে পড়া শেষ করার আগে আমি প্রশ্ন তৈরি করে ফেলেছিলাম। - I had prepared the questions before he finished studying.
31. আমরা সভায় যাওয়ার সাথে সাথে বক্তৃতা শুরু হয়ে গিয়েছিল। - No sooner had we gone to the meeting than the speech had started.
32. আমি ঘর পরিষ্কার করার আগে সে সব গুছিয়ে ফেলেছিল। - He had arranged everything before I cleaned the room.
33. যখন আমি স্কুলে পৌঁছালাম, পরীক্ষা শুরু হয়ে গিয়েছিল। - When I reached school, the exam had started.
34. আমি তাকে চিঠি লেখার আগে সে দেশ ছেড়ে চলে গিয়েছিল। - He had left the country before I wrote him the letter.
35. আমরা বাজারে পৌঁছানোর পরে দোকানগুলো বন্ধ হয়ে গিয়েছিল। - The shops had closed after we reached the market.
36. আমি খাবার তৈরি করার আগে সে রান্নাঘর পরিষ্কার করে ফেলেছিল। - He had cleaned the kitchen before I prepared the food.
37. যখন আমি তাকে ফোন করলাম, সে ঘুমিয়ে পড়েছিল। - When I called him, he had fallen asleep.
38. আমি বইটি ফেরত দেওয়ার আগে সে আরেকটি কিনে ফেলেছিল। - He had bought another one before I returned the book.
39. আমরা পার্টিতে যাওয়ার সাথে সাথে সবাই চলে গিয়েছিল। - No sooner had we gone to the party than everyone had left.
40. আমি দরজা খোলার আগে সে চাবি হারিয়ে ফেলেছিল। - He had lost the key before I opened the door.
41. যখন আমি বাড়ি ফিরলাম, তারা সব শেষ করে ফেলেছিল। - When I returned home, they had finished everything.
42. আমি তাকে বলার আগে সে সব জেনে গিয়েছিল। - He had known everything before I told him.
43. আমরা সিনেমা হলে পৌঁছানোর পরে আলো নিভে গিয়েছিল। - The lights had gone off after we reached the cinema hall.
44. আমি কাজ শুরু করার আগে সে সব শেষ করে ফেলেছিল। - He had finished everything before I started the work.
45. যখন আমি দোকানে গেলাম, তারা সব বিক্রি করে ফেলেছিল। - When I went to the shop, they had sold everything.
46. আমি চিঠি লেখার পরে সে উত্তর দিয়েছিল। - He had replied after I had written the letter.
47. আমরা খেলা দেখতে যাওয়ার আগে ম্যাচটি শেষ হয়ে গিয়েছিল। - The match had ended before we went to watch the game.
48. আমি ঘরে ঢোকার সাথে সাথে সে জানালা বন্ধ করে ফেলেছিল। - No sooner had I entered the room than he had closed the window.
49. যখন আমি স্টেশনে পৌঁছালাম, ট্রেনটি চলে গিয়েছিল। - When I reached the station, the train had left.
50. আমি তাকে ফোন করার আগে সে বাড়ি থেকে বেরিয়ে গিয়েছিল। - He had left the house before I called him.
51. আমি পৌঁছানোর আগে ট্রেনটি ছেড়ে চলে গিয়েছিল। - The train had left before I arrived.
52. সে স্কুলে যাওয়ার আগে তার কাজ শেষ করেছিল। - He had finished his work before he went to school.
53. বাবা আসার পর আমি পড়া শেষ করেছিলাম। - I had finished studying after father came.
54. আমরা যাওয়ার পর তারা গান গাইতে শুরু করেছিল। - They had started singing after we left.
55. আমি বাইরে যাওয়ার পরে সে দরজা বন্ধ করেছিল। - He had closed the door after I went out.
